MGSi Share (Device)

This webpage documents the MGSi Share (Device) app.

The MGSi Share app is a simplified version of the MGSi system and is designed for sharing documents with "external"/partner/client users in a secure manner without providing access to the MGSi Web, MGSi Web Light, or the MGSi (Device) App applications.

The UWP / Android / iOS screen-shots for each page are grouped together. Use the Show/Hide Options to toggle the display of the screen-shots for each device type.

The Android screen-shots are from an Android Pixel 2 R 11.0 - API 30 device. The iOS screen-shots are from an iPhone SE (2nd generation) iOS 15.0 device.

Tip: use draft mode when printing to a color printer.

Using the Search Bar Control (Device)

The Search Bar control is used to specify a term to filter the lists.

Usage

1. Type a term to search for in the edit box and tap ENTER (UWP and iOS) or tap the Search glyph (Android).
2. Tap the 'X' to clear the edit box and restore the list. You can also tap the Refresh menu item.

Caveats

1. The Search Bar control is not displayed unless there are 5 or more items in the list.
2. Filtered lists are not sortable. The original list is always used for sorting.
3. Sorted lists are not filterable. The original list is always used for filtering.

MGSi Share Home (Device)

The portal for the MGSi Share app.

Tap an item in the list to display the MGSi File (Device) page.

When you upload a file/photo/video, the file is stored with the work item associated with your user id, and then the file is "auto shared". The User ID field for the files you upload are displayed in orange-red. The User ID field for files that have been shared with you by other users are displayed in regular font colors.

The About page displays information, capabilities and rights for the device.

Each section has an expander control to let you show/hide (toggle) individual sections. Tap on the section header (the rows with the up and down arrows) to toggle the section.

Use the Map option to verify the accuracy of the Location Services settings.

MGSi Share (Device)

Used to share the file with other users.

How it works

1. Non-administrator users can only share files they shared and can only share those files with internal (MGSi) users.
2. The user item is disabled in the list if the file has already been shared with them.
3. User ID items in orangered are internal (MGSi) users.
4. The initial expiration date value is 6 months from the current date.

MGSi (Shared File) Notes (Device)

Used to add notes for the current shared file from the Share app.

When you add a note, the user id for the notes you added are displayed in orange-red. The user id for the notes that have been added by other users (for example MGSi Share Files (Documents - Share Files)) are displayed in regular font colors.

MGSi Properties (Device)

Used to display the properties of the shared file. The Save option is visible if you shared the file.

Note that when you use the Upload/Photo/Video option from the Home page, you are the 'Shared By' user.

For the MGSi Web and MGSi Light Web websites, the file properties are displayed in tooltips.

MGSi Image (Device)

Displays an image file.

Double-tap the image to make it bigger in order to start panning. Double-tap the image a second time to restore the image to its original size.

Android users: currently, 'tap and pan' works better than 'pinch and pan'.

MGSi Problem Reporting (Device)

Used to submit a problem report. A work item is generated that you can then track, if your user ID is assigned to the MER document type.

The local log file is uploaded for use with problem resolution. If you don't want to 'share' the contents of the log, use the Clear Log option from the Log page before tapping Submit.

MGSi User Guide Search (Device)

Used to search the MGSi User Guide webpages (help topics).

Enter a term to search for in the Search Term edit box, then tap Submit. From the Results page, tap on an item in the list to display the User Guide webpage (topic) with each occurrence of the search term highlighted. The results are sorted by the webpage Title in ascending sequence. Note that searches are case-insensitive.
